Kansas City Restaurant Week is Here!

Blog / January 11, 2018

One of my favorite parts of living in this city is our vast range of fantastic food that is across the whole Greater Kansas City area. Often when visitors make their way to KC, all they want and know of Kansas City is that we have great BBQ, so that’s all they ever get here. Now don’t get me wrong, we have the best BBQ in the country, hands down, but we also have so much more to offer! One of the easiest ways to get out and try the different variety of cuisines is to take advantage of the best ten days in January, Kansas City Restaurant Week!

What is Kansas City Restaurant Week you ask? It is a ten-day event where restaurants in the Greater Kansas City area provide prix fixe menus for lunch and dinner. In my opinion, this is the time to get out and try some new restaurants or that one place you’ve meant to go to for a while and get a taste of several items on the menu.  This 10-day period begins Friday, January 12, 2018, and lasts through January 21, 2018, and the most of this whole event is that 10% of every meal’s cost goes back to charity.

A few tips for those who have not ventured out during Kansas City Restaurant Week:

Make reservations. While this is not required, I strongly recommend doing this because this is a busy time for these restaurants. You can go to KCRestarauntWeek.com or directly call the place you’d like to go to set a reservation

Check out your menus ahead of time. On the website KCRestarauntWeek.com, you can find and search through all the restaurants participating as well as see what will is on the menu for lunch and dinner.

Don’t forget about lunch. For most of the participating restaurants, lunch will be $15, and dinner with be $33. Although the dinners are always fantastic, don’t count out the lunches. You are getting some of the restaurant’s top-selling dishes, not to mention a multiple-course meal making it a great deal. Plus, it’s always fun to get out for lunch and take a break from your workday!

We may be biased, but some of the best spots in the city to try out during Restaurant Week are right in our Brookside neighborhood! Some of our go-to places that we know are participating are AIXOIS French Bistro, Avenues Bistro-Brookside, Michael Forbes Bar & Grille, Nick & Jake’s – Kansas City and Red Door Woodfired Grill – Brookside. We will be stopping in at these spots over the next ten days and hope to see you all there as well!
