Best of KC: Restaurants Now Open for Dine-In

Best of KC / May 28, 2020

It’s official. Slowly but surely, the world is starting to open back up. There are some rules, some masks, some paper menus, and some gloves, but the good news is you can sit in a place that’s not your house and order food to eat that you didn’t cook. And with all kinds of predictions about a “second wave of infections,” who knows how long it will last?? So get it while it’s good and while it’s legal. Here are some restaurants in the Kansas City are that are open for business right now.

Stock Hill

If you’re craving a steak, then Stock Hill, one of Kansas City’s many great steakhouses, is the place to go. Best to make a reservation as seating is limited, but curbside carryout is also available. To keep customers and employees safe, they’re also featuring contact-less payment, no-touch menus, and enhanced sanitizing and disinfecting practices.

Strang HallBest of KC: Restaurants Now Open for Dine-In

This cafeteria-style space in Overland Park is open for dine-in service and carryout, Wednesday through Sunday. Strang Hall features online ordering and contact-less payment. And if you bring your own lawn chairs or picnic blanket, you can picnic in the yard outside.

Boru Ramen

At 500 75th Street in Waldo, Boru is welcoming dine-in customers in addition to the regular curbside carryout.

Summit Grill

Still in Waldo, Summit Grill is open for dine-in service and curbside carryout, which should be placed online for contact-less payment. Look for weekend brunches and similar options at their other two locations in Lee’s Summit and Gladstone. Reservations are not required, but encouraged.

Though it’s only offering a limited menu until fully opened, Story in Prairie Village is offering carryout and dine-in service in the dining room and on the patio. Since they’re only open from Wednesday through Sunday, reservations are strongly encouraged so you can be sure to get a table.

Capital GrilleBest of KC: Restaurants Now Open for Dine-In

Right on the Country Club Plaza, Capital Grille is serving its entire menu for both dine-in service and curbside carryout. Steaks are even available for purchase to grill on your own at home. You must make reservations and you must wear a mask when you’re not seated at your table, but you’re also free to eat on the outdoor patio. Which, again, is better than your house.

Both Rye locations, one in Leawood and one on the Plaza are both open for dine-in and carryout every day from 4pm to 8pm, along with weekend brunches. Since tables are spread out to enable social distancing, seating is limited and reservations are recommended.

One of Brookside’s most popular Italian restaurants, Plate is open for carryout and dine-in service all weeklong, including tables on the covered outdoor patio. Reservations are encouraged, but not required.

Taps on Main

Down in the Crossroads Arts District, Taps on Main is available for dine-in service, carryout, and delivery. If you choose to dine in, know that their famous beer wall isn’t open yet, but tables are spread apart and they feature contact-less menus and payment.

Duck & RollBest of KC: Restaurants Now Open for Dine-In

It’s new and it’s Chinese! Owned by the owners of Banksia, Duck & Roll opened right as the whole city went into lockdown, but now it’s finally open for more than just carryout. Check out Cantonese cuisine, including Chinese barbecue, dumplings, and noodles from the Wok Bar. The patio is open for dinner each night at 5pm as is the dining room.

Another new restaurant inside Meadowbrook Park in Prairie Village, Verbana is a New England seafood restaurant open for dinner only. Choose either dine-in service with a reservation inside or on the patio or carryout.

South of Summit Taqueria and Tequila

Back to Waldo, this new hotspot is open for dine-in service and carryout, all week long, with daily happy hours from 3pm to 6pm. Plus you can order the family taco packs and margarita kids to-go. Reservations to dine-in are not required, but do call to place a carryout order.

Urban Table

Located in the Corinth Square Shops, Urban Table is open for both lunch and dinner, both for dine-in service and carryout.

Other notable restaurants that are open for business are Blue Bird Bistro, Novel, Pearl Tavern, Rockhill Grille, Room 39, Succotash, The Brass Onion, Third Street Social, Grand Street, Gram and Dun, Fox and Pearl, Farina, and Extra Virgin.

Restaurants are open again! For now. Let’s toast to a return to normal—no, better than normal. Let’s all be safe, healthy, and well-fed. In the meantime, check the website of your favorite restaurant for the most updated social-distancing and safety procedures.
