Best of KC: Easter Egg Hunts

Best of KC: Easter Egg Hunts

Best of KC / April 11, 2019

Even if you haven’t yet been “blessed” with kids, there’s nothing more wholesome and nostalgic than an Easter egg hunt. Unless it’s one of those uber competitive Easter egg hunts where kids are tossing each other to the ground to get any advantage they can. Those get pretty cutthroat and leave you questioning the true meaning of Easter. But I digress. Otherwise, Easter egg hunts are great! Here are some of the best (free) ones in the Kansas City metro area.

Resurrection Easter Egg Hunt—Sat, April 13th, starting at 10am

In addition to an egg hunt, there’s also a petting zoo, a bounce house, games, crafts, and a chance to meet the Easter Bunny. Located at 601 NE Jefferson Street in Blue Springs, it will all be held rain or shine! Better dig out those Easter baskets…

All for the Children Eggstravaganza—Sat, April 13, starting at 8:30am

If you want to participate in the 5k walk/jog, then you need to wake up early. Otherwise, you can probably sleep in a bit more, but know that the first 1,000 children to arrive get a free Welcome bag! Located at Metropolitan Community College in Independence, the event also features a live concert with Mr. Stinky Feet, a meeting with the Easter Bunny, an obstacle course, balloon artists, and face painting. There’s also a dental clinic and self-defense classes for kids. Not to mention 10,000 hidden Easter eggs! Remember, it’s for the kids.

North Star Church Easter Egg Hunt—Sun, April 14th, from 12 to 1:30pm

Lunch is offered, along with other giveaways, bounce houses, egg hunts, and, of course, a visit from the Easter Bunny! Located at 11250 North Eastern Avenue in North Kansas City.

Harry’s Hop n’ Hunt—Sat, April 20th, from 10am to noon

There’s a story time with KC celebrities (think: athletes!), live music, an egg roll, Easter egg hunts, and more. It’s located at the Truman Library and Museum at 51st and Troost, and you shouldn’t be surprised if the Easter Bunny shows up! And best of all, Russell Stover has donated chocolates for this egg hunt!

Bonner Springs Egg Hunts—Sat, April 20th, from 9 to 10am

Located at the North Park Soccer Fields, this egg hunt put on by the parks and rec department, features games, bounce house inflatables, and a chance to take pictures with the Easter Bunny. And the hunt is staggered and divided by age, just to make things a bit more fair.

Easter Event—Sat, April 20th, starting at 9:30am

Sponsored by the City of Fairway and the Shawnee Mission State Historic Site, this hunt is also split into age divisions. Toddlers—how cute!—start at 9:30am, 4 to 6 year-olds start at 10am, and 7 to 10 year-olds are at 10:30 am. Bring your Easter baskets!

Easter Bunny Hop—Sat, April 20th, at 9:45am

Located in downtown Lee’s Summit, this hunt starts with a parade at City Hall Plaza, is followed by prizes awarded to the best costumes, and ends with photos with the Easter bunny and lots of candy handouts!

Spring Frolic and Egg Hunt—Sun, April 21st, from 12:30 to 2:30

Located at the Pilgrim Center at 3801 Gillham Road, this hunt includes 3,000 candy-filled eggs, refreshments, and other activities.
